B.C. Air Quality

Intro Page: Framework for the British Columbia Air Monitoring Network: Final Report
June 2008

B.C.'s air monitoring network is one of the largest per capita in Canada. This draft framework was prepared to:

  • guide network changes with a greater understanding of the relevance of new and existing stations and parameters measured, and whether or not resources could be diverted to meet higher air quality priorities;
  • give the B.C. Ministry of the Environmen the ability to optimize its air monitoring network to achieve the best possible scientific value, and protect public and environmental health in a cost-effective manner; and
  • lay out the core components of the network and provide a foundation for future growth.
